What to Expect: Interview Process Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in joining Etobicoke Football Club. Our hiring process is designed to be clear, fair, and aligned with a safe, player-centred club environment. Below is what candidates can typically expect.

Stage What Happens What We’re Looking For
1. Application Submission Complete the Etobicoke FC Job Application Form(and resume if requested). Clear interest in the role, relevant experience with the age group, and alignment with a development-first approach.
2. Application Review Applications are reviewed based on program needs, experience, qualifications, and availability. Shortlisted candidates are contacted. Coaching suitability for the age group, professionalism, and priority certifications (Grassroots Licence/Diploma, Canada Soccer C Diploma progress where applicable).
3. Initial Interview (Phone/Video) An interview (typically 40–60 minutes) covering background, coaching philosophy, availability, and pathway goals. Player-centred coaching mindset, communication skills, understanding of safe/inclusive environments, and commitment to ongoing learning.
4. Practical / On-Field Evaluation (role dependent) Candidates may lead a session (60–90 minutes) or submit a session plan/video if an on-field evaluation isn’t possible. Organization, age-appropriate activities, engagement, safety awareness, games-based delivery, and positive coaching behaviors.
5. Reference Checks 1–2 references may be requested (coaching, sport, education, or employment). Reliability, professionalism, and suitability for working in youth sport environments.
6. Conditional Offer & Compliance Offers are conditional on meeting club/association requirements (as applicable), including work eligibility, screening, and required Safe Sport / coach educationitems (or a timeline to complete). Readiness to meet compliance standards and uphold club values and policies.
7. Onboarding & Orientation Successful candidates receive program expectations, curriculum guidance, policies/code of conduct, schedules, and admin processes. Preparedness to collaborate, follow curriculum, communicate professionally, and contribute positively to the coaching team.
